We're an independent resource built to answer one deceptively hard question: which trading journal is actually worth your money?

Why this site exists

There are dozens of trading journals, and every one of them claims to be the best. Their own marketing pages are no help - they're designed to sell, not to compare. We built Best Trading Journal to cut through that: to test the tools side by side, on the same criteria, and publish rankings a working trader can actually use.

Our team is made up of active traders and researchers who have kept journals for years - first in spreadsheets, then across most of the software on this list. We know the difference between a feature that demos well and one you'll still use in month three.

What we cover

We focus on retail trading journals for stocks, options, futures and crypto - the platforms most independent traders are choosing between. For each one we look at pricing, broker auto-sync, analytics depth, ease of use and market coverage, then score and rank them. You can read the full framework on our methodology page.

Testing takes time, and hosting costs money.
